It is amazing to me how quickly we can accumulate STUFF. I mean – my husband and I don’t shop very often, I don’t remember the last time we bought anything besides groceries. So how is it that we have a full garage, an office, and every cabinet space in the house filled with stuff we haven’t used in over 6 months?? How is my purse filled with random trash that never got emptied out?
As you can probably guess, I told my husband it was time to clean out this week, even if it isn’t quite spring time yet. Here are some things I have learned about clutter, my faith and cleaning out through this household purge I am going through right now.
I am just enjoying the night, it is beautiful out. I am sitting straight up, legs crossed under me (because this is the only way to sit for perfect focusing, right?), sipping my black coffee. My computer is in front of me and my journal is open on the table beside me. For the first time in weeks, I want to write. So I shall.
Lately, I have wondered what I have to write about. It seems that I am not getting devotional-type, based-off-of-a-verse inspirations. However, this is where I am in my life right now, so we are going to have ‘life and success blogs.’ In the past, I have found that what I am struggling with, my readers can identify with, so I hope it’s a blessing to you. As most of you know, I left a standard job back in May to pursue dreams that I simply couldn’t follow as a full-time teacher. It was amazing to take that leap of faith… HOWEVER… it hasn’t been as easy as I thought it would be! I realized I had a lot to learn about being disciplined and focused with my time and energy. So, here are 5 habits I am learning to incorporate into my daily life to make sure that our dreams are going to come true.
Right now, I have the windows open and I keep staring out the window, just listening to the rainfall outside. Now my part lab-part pit bull, on the other hand, is not enjoying the storm nor is she feeling peaceful and keeps hiding in her kennel with her ‘safety blanket,’ because rain (and water) scares her. It has to be her pit bull side, the big baby. She figured out that it was safer with me and sat under my feet for the full hour that it was raining. This is the rainy season where I live at, so we have storms 2-3 times a week. Let’s look at some of the things we see from the Bible about rainstorms…
Most of us have asked this question lately. In the last few months, we have had violence and crime rock our nation, with the hate crimes/terrorist attacks against the gay community, shootings and bombings around the world, the protests and riots from the racial divisions in our country. Even as I was writing this, there was another terrorist attack that took the lives of many innocent people. I can see where this question is coming from, actually, I have been wondering this too.
